Isadora moon 1112/23/2023 ![]() ![]() "We made our cake for the competition but we used my magic wand to make it look really incredible. She feels guilty about it and is torn over what to do. Zoe and Isadora make the cake but Isadora uses magic to make a quite brilliant cake. That just sounds like my normal life." And this sort of exchange is part of what made this book good for me, the comparison of humans against Isadora's vampire and fairy household and the differences between them, without any prejudice involved. Isadora explains the concept of a sleepover to her vampire dad: "You get to stay up all night and have a midnight feast!" Her vampire dad replies, "Oh. Zoe suggests to Isadora that they should be partners and they could have a sleepover at Zoe's house too whilst also making the cake. The prize for the winning pair is tickets to the final of popular TV series "Sponge and Sprinkles", a TV show which is surely inspired by the Great British Bake Off. The story sees Isadora's class holding a baking competition that has to be done in pairs. The art is cute and fluffy and pink and you can see just by looking at it why it appeals to young girls. The "enchanting pink and black pictures" continue throughout making it a similarly attractive experience if you flick through the pages. But this still has a good cover which is typical of the series, a cute black and white and pink picture, which includes glitter elements, on the front. As far as first impressions go the hardcover with the silver-edged pages is better. No prior knowledge of the others is required.įirst thing to say is that the other book in the series I read was hardback with silver gilt edges to the pages whereas this one is paperback with no hardback currently available. Isadora Moon is "half vampire, half fairy, totally unique." This is the second book in the series I have read but there are many others. Despite some stuff, I still would recommend this one. The art was once again very adorable and fun, and I still love it is only pink/grey black as colours.Īll in all, I can’t wait until the library gets the missing books and also the new books as they come out. I also found it focused a bit too much on that duo with their dino cake and even dismissing the other cakes. Don’t get me wrong, I love dinos, but that robot cake was just way better. While I knew that they would come clean, I would have loved to see someone else win. It was a bit predictable though, which was a shame. I can understand why she did it, but if your best friend says something… respect that. So yeah, I wasn’t a fan of Zoe in this one. I am glad that her dad was there to give her some extra motivation, because she did need that. I am glad that she learned from what happened with her niece in one of the previous books. Though thankfully Isadora knows what is happening is wrong, and tries to talk to her friend. ![]() Then the cake baking happens, and while I was delighted with it (as it was a gorgeous cake) I was also a bit angry that they used magic. But those wings? LOVE IT! And where can I get a floaty bed? I loved what she did for her friend, though I don’t think I would ever want my plushies to come alive. And that is what happens a lot in this one. ![]() And that asks for her first sleepover! I loved the sleepover and seeing the girls have tons of fun. But she is all eager to make a cake and she is happily doing that with her best friend. □ Poor Isadora whose parents just don’t understand you sometimes want to watch something fun on a tv. In this one we have a fun contest in which our kids can win tickets to the finale for a baking show that is all the rage. It has been a while since they added a new book in the series and I have been seeing new books pop up on the twitter of the author. I was so excited when the library FINALLY had a new book in this series in their collection (and in English even). It is time for friendship + cake! Also being honest. ![]()
